Persona 5 Voted Game of the Year By Japanese Gaming Industry

Over Final Fantasy 15 and The Last Guardian.

Persona 5 appears to have been a truly exceptional game, and one that most developers within Japan have sat up and taken notice of, too. That has to be why it managed to win the most votes in a poll conducted by Dengeki PlayStation, which surveyed Japanese developers about what game they found to be the best of the year.

Persona 5 came in with a convincing lead, beating out The Last Guardian and even Final Fantasy 15. The game came in with 25 votes, with Final Fantasy 15 scoring 22 votes, and The Last Guardian trailing with 14 votes. Other games that were nominated included Dragon Quest Builders and Overwatch. Developers who were polled include Hajime Tabata, Fumito Ueda, and Shuhei Yoshida, among others.

Persona 5 launched in Japan on September 15, for PS3 and PS4. Thankfully, we in the west don’t have to wait too long for it now either, because it will be launching here on April 4, 2017, on PS3 and PS4, in North America and Japan. May we find it as remarkable as our Japanese brethren doubtless did.
