Atlus’ Persona series (which originally started out as a sub-series of Shin Megami Tensei) had never really been much more than a cult-favourite niche JRPG franchise for the longest time, but in recent years, especially with the impressive success of Persona 5it has finally hit the mainstream market.

Now, Sega has confirmed (via Persona Central), that the Persona series has hit a notable commercial landmark, accruing total sales of 10 million units for all its games worldwide, physical and digital. The success of Persona 5, as noted above, doubtless contributed to that significantly, but the series in general has been very active of late. We recently saw the launch of Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinthwhile both Persona 3 and Persona 5 also recently received dancing game spinoffs.

And there’s still more yet to come. Persona 5 Royal, the expanded re-release of Persona 5, is out in October in Japan, while in the west, it’ll be releasing in Spring of next year. Meanwhile, a musou spinoff, Persona 5 Scrambleis also slated for a PS4 and Nintendo Switch launch next year.
