Peter Molyneux: Vita is a gimmick, does not interest me

Peter Molyneux, ex-boss of Lionhead Studios and developer of the Fable franchise, says the PS Vita “is a gimmick” and that it doesn’t interest him.

“I have to say, purely speaking as a designer, it just doesn’t excite me,” he said on Spike TV. “The back touch, I thought it was quite cute, there’s quite a few games that have the tap on the back.

“But, you know, I’m not there. I’m sorry. It’s gimmicky; it’s another thing to put in my pocket.” He confirmed that his new development studio, 22 Cans, is not supporting the Vita, and is currently working on a game called Curiosity for the PC and the iOS.

However, Molyneux was pretty interested in David Cage’s new game Beyond. “Anything that David Cage does I think is super interesting,” he said. “You can say what you like about his previous titles but they really are cutting edge and innovational [sic]. I love them. I love all of them.”
