Phantom Blade Zero

After the success of Black Myth: Wukong, S-Game’s Phantom Blade Zero is perhaps the next big hack-and-slash title to look forward to. Though its promised demo isn’t ready to go public, it is available to play at Gamescom 2024. Check out some new gameplay from it below.

The trailer runs through three key bosses – Tie Sha the Frenzy, Commander Cleave, and Huangxing, the Sunken Pillar of Kunlun. The deflection and posture systems are similar to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, right down to the glowing attacks that deal more damage to the latter when parried. Nevertheless, the animation work is fluid, especially when executing different combos.

Some interesting abilities include returning Tie Sha’s explosive projectile at him for a sleek finish. You can also spot the protagonist using Cleave’s weapon in the third fight and its unique move set.

Phantom Blade is coming to PS5 and PC, reportedly targeting a Fall 2026 launch. However, the developer is also considering an Xbox Series X/S version. Head here for more details.
