Experience the perfect ending to the storyline of Phantom Blade Zero by using this guide to complete its prerequisites.

The narrative of Phantom Blade Zero has three endings that can be arrived at through a standard playthrough of the storyline. However, there is a fourth, secret ending that is considered to be the best or true ending, which requires the completion of very specific side quests that most players may not naturally stumble across.

This guide for Phantom Blade Zero is all about finding and completing the prerequisites for the true ending to the game.

How To Get The Perfect Ending

Firstly, as you approach the point of no return in the endgame, you will have clear warning that going past it will lock in your current progression of side quest content. So if you have not already progressed beyond that point, there is nothing to stress about if you missed completion of any of the requirements for the true ending that are listed below.

Quick Hand Zhang Fetch Quests

The merchant, Quick Hand Zhang, will have you locate and return several relics to him over the course of multiple encounters. As a trackable quest, you can readily check when you have finally completed this particular requirement.

Acquire The Four Masks

You will need to defeat all four of the Acolyte bosses scattered across the world. Face them by interacting with four distinct scarecrows that are located in:

  • Village of Lu
  • Pangzehn
  • Meigu Lake
  • Crimson Manor in the Weeping Creek Valley

Each will drop a related elemental mask: Yanru’s Blazing Mask, Leiting’s Thunder Mask, Guhe’s Venom Mask, and Hansui’s Frost Mask.

Acquire The Crystal Puppet Eyes

These two items are awarded from two different pieces of side content:

  • Mountain of Imprisonment
  • Crimson Manor secret boss

Defeat Meigu Lake Four Guardians’ Mirror Boss

The aforementioned four Acolyte Masks will grant you access to a secret realm. Head for Meigu Lake, and take the boat to the western edge of the region. Once docked, proceed forward until you locate a mirror, which can be passed through if you have possession of the masks.

Beat the boss of this realm as part of the requirements for the true ending.

Beat Every Long Pillar

There are five Long Pillars challenge zones to complete in the game, one of which is down an alternate path right here in the Four Guardians’ Mirror realm.

Three others are located at:

  • Weeping Creek Valley
  • Crimson Forest Mirrorwood
  • Meigu Lake Midlake

The fifth and final Long Pillar is part of the endgame section in the Pangzhen Mirage Estate and you can save that for last, once you are positively ready to go past the point of no return.

Complete The Story

Once all of those prior requirements have been achieved, simply play through the end of the game like normal, and you will automatically get the best ending known as ‘The Final Battle’.

That is every single requirement necessary for unlocking the perfect ending in Phantom Blade Zero.
