Update: It seems that today is indeed Squirrel Appreciation Day so that tweet by Rare might only be a coincidence. We have updated the original story and the headline to reflect this.

Original Story:

Microsoft’s Windows 10 event will be coming up shortly and even though the focus is on the new operating system, there’s plenty of hype regarding Xbox as well. Xbox boss Phil Spencer especially hopes that players stick around till the end.

“Great to have Xbox/Gaming in a Windows event today. Make sure you stay watching until the end of show, cool stuff there.”

Additionally, Spencer is also looking for feedback on how they performed in terms of new announcements.

What could that “cool stuff” be? We will know in a few hours. Furthermore, Rare posted a picture of Conker on a throne and remarked that, “It would seem that today is Squirrel Appreciation Day…”

Although it is indeed Squirrel Appreciation Day today, it seems a bit strange that the timing is perfect since the day coincides with the Windows 10 event. Could they possibly announce a new Conker game? Unlikely but you never know. The last time we saw Conker was in 2005 when Conker: Live and Reloaded released on the first Xbox. There haven’t been any other appearances as Rare has been relegated to Kinect games and whatnot in recent years but there might still be some interest in his resurgence.

Are you looking forward to the event? Which game franchises do you hope to see Microsoft reveal? Let us know in the comments.
