Remember the enormous pressure that Sony’s servers faced when the PlayStation 4 launched in North America, especially with so many people trying to download the Day One update? Sony has apparently figured about a work-around to ensure the servers run smooth for the European PlayStation Network launch.

According to an update on the PlayStation Blog EU, Sony will be disabling the “What’s New” and “Content Information Screen” functions at launch on PSN to ensure the server load stays light. While the former lets you keep track of your friends’ activities including Trophies earned, the latter displays your friend’s information relative to the game you’re playing.

Will it help on a day where Sony is expecting record numbers of people to show up for the launch of the PlayStation 4, especially since it has more than a million pre-orders in Europe alone? We’ll find out in the coming days. The PlayStation 4 is currently slated to go on sale in a few hours in Europe.
