In a recent presser, Sony finally announced that Japanese release for the PlayStation 4. Surprisingly, the console will not be launching this November along with North America and Europe. Instead it will be launching on February 22nd 2014. Why the delay? So that all Western titles can be properly localized prior to the PS4’s release. It will retail for 38,980 yen ($390) without PS Eye and for 43,980 yen ($440) with the camera.

To assuage sufferers of the delay, Sony has announced that the first batch of PS4 consoles in Japan will be “Limited Packs” that come with a free download code for Knack and an extra year on the warranty for the console. You’ll also be able to choose a bundle with the PS Eye or without it in the Limited Packs.

Still, considering the console releases on November 15th for North America and November 29th for Europe, will these be worth the wait? Or will Sony have something else up its sleeve for Japan by the time 2014 rolls around?
