The Sony PlayStation 4 is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.de, and has managed to top the site’s best-seller list for gaming. This is interesting considering that the next generation console is available for €599 or $772.
On one hand, this could be a placeholder price, which many retailers do when the official information isn’t available. And surely enough, it sounds like the overall price of the console would be something Sony would keep for the E3 2013 press conference.
On the other hand, even if it retails for €399 to €450, that’s still more than $500 that North American fans will be putting down for the next generation console. Given the amount of technology within, and its capabilities, does the price really make that much sense?
Sony could sell the console for cheaper, at a loss, like what happened with the PlayStation 3 but its doubtful they’ll go down that path again. We’ll have to wait till E3 2013 to know for sure it seems.
