Heard of PlayStation Mobile? Even if you haven’t, Sony still treats it like a big deal. In fact, the company recently announced that it would be waiving the $99 licensing fee for publishers for the summer, thus letting developers create games for the PS Vita or any other Mobile certified device for free.

Or at least till Septemeber 2nd, at which point the duration of the waiver will be liable to change. But for those who want to freely distribute Mobile games via the PlayStation Store along with testing and debugging, this is a golden opportunity.

Senior manager of mobile content acquisition Sarah Thomson stated that, “This summer, we’re throwing down the gauntlet for PlayStation Mobile development and are removing any existing barriers to get your brainchild of a game on this new PlayStation platform.”

While the Vita development is good news, Sony is still yet to get its act together for PlayStation Mobile on Android devices. You’d be hard-pressed to get any PlayStation certified games working, even on Sony Xperia devices.
