PlayStation US Shipments in September Were Reportedly up Over 400% from Last Year

Since the day it launched, the PS5 (like pretty much all other hardware on the market) has ben held back in its sales by limited stock and supply shortages, owing to the global shortage of semiconductors needed for manufacturing (among other factors). Sony, of course, has made dealing with these issues its top priority, and it seems the company has seen some major improvements on this front of late.

As reported on Twitter by David Gibson, who is a senior analyst at MST Financial, Sony Interactive Entertainment (or PlayStation) has seen a massive increase in shipments in the United States (sea freight in kilograms) for the month of September. Shipments for the month up over 400% from where they stood in September of last year.

Keep in mind that this accounts for all PlayStation hardware available on the market- though presumably the majority of this will be for PS5 shipments. As pr Gibson, the console’s supply improvements are likely to tie into God of War Ragnarok’s launch in November.

PS5 supply has surely been seeing improvements worldwide in recent months. It was the best-selling console in the US for the month of August in terms of both, units sold and revenue generated from sales, while it also recently overtook the Nintendo Switch as the best-selling console in the UK for 2022 so far. Earlier this year, Sony also assured that the PS5 will see increased supply in time for the Holiday season.
