Sony's VR headset is expected to get off to a flying start.

15 Things You Need To Know About PlayStation VR

Sony’s PlayStation VR is set to explode into the mainstream market- that has been the general expectation anyway, but it seems as though analysts may be buying into that same expectation as well. Chinese newspaper Liberty Times (via DigitTimes) reports that according to the Taipei-based Topology Research Institute, Sony’s high end VR headset is widely expected to ship 6 million in 2016 alone.

That same reports claims that Oculus and HTC will ship 2.3 million Oculus Rift and 700,000 HTC Vive respectively during the same period, the report said. This is especially notable because the Oculus and Vive will both have a six month lead over the PlayStation VR, which is only launching in mid October.

Personally? I don’t know if the PSVR will sell 6 million this year, particularly since the Xbox One S, Xbox One Scorpio, PlayStation 4 Neo, and Nintendo NX may influence costumer spending habits for game hardware. But I do believe that in the long run, the PSVR is set to be the most successful VR headset on the market.
