Pokemon GO Losing Older iOS Device Support on February 28th

IPhone 5/5c, iPad 4th gen and iPad 2 users are among the few that won't be able to access their accounts.

Apple device users take note – if you currently own a version of iOS that’s older 11, then Pokemon GO will no longer support your platform. Niantic confirmed as much and said that it would be dropping support for older iOS devices like the iPhone 5 and 5c on February 28th.

The decision to do this was to allow “improvements to Pokemon Go that push the application beyond the capabilities of the operating systems on such devices.” Sadly, you won’t even be able to access your Pokemon GO account when this update goes live. PokeCoins and other items in your bag will also be inaccessible. Other devices that will suffer from this change include the 1st, 3rd and 4th generations of iPad and iPad 2.

If your device supports iOS 11 and you haven’t updated yet, now would be the best time. Otherwise, you should probably look into getting a new iPhone or iPad. Unless, of course, you want the crippling pressure of being unable to capture Pokemon in the real world like your other more up to date Apple friends.
