Pokemon will sell well isn’t actually news- it’s Pokemon, and Pokemon always sells. It’s the second biggest gaming franchise, and largest media franchise, of all time. But even so, it looks like the just announced Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu and Let’s GO Eevee have struck some kind of chord with the larger audience- the announcement trailer for the games has hit more than 6 million views in just 24 hours on just the official Pokemon channel.

This isn’t counting mirrors of the trailer on other channels (like game websites loading their own versions, and regional Pokemon channels loading their ones)or uploads on other social media (on The Pokemon Twitter account alone, it has another 2.7 million views), or the fact that the game has been consistently trending on YouTube since its reveal, but the message is clear- the game’s trailer is popular and has struck an extraordinary chord. Which indicates that even for Pokemon games, Let’s GO Pikachu and Eevee might end up doing remarkably well.

Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu and Eevee are due out on November 16 this year, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
