Pokemon Sword and Shield Information and Release Date May Have Leaked Ahead of Today’s Direct

Grain of salt and all that, but there's some interesting stuff here.

We’re just hours away from the Pokemon Direct that will be blowing out new information on Pokemon Sword and Shieldincluding – presumably – when exactly it releases. But with not long left until we get that information from official channels, it seems there’s been a plug that’s leaked a few details.

This info comes from user PracticalBrush12 on Reddit. As per the leak, the legendaries for the Sword and Shield versions are both going to be wolves (as the game’s logos may have given away). There’s a new gimmick at play in the games, coming in the form of giant Pokemon. Players will be able to find, catch, and fight these, while you’ll also be able to make your own Pokemon temporarily giant to use in gyms and stadiums.

Something else that’s really interesting about giant Pokemon- it seems you can meet them in “rifts”, in events that seem to function a lot like raids (which means you’ll presumably be doing it with other players). Additionally, it also looks like roaming Pokemon in the overworld will indeed be making a return, similar to Let’s Go, so we don’t have to put up with random encounters. It also seems like Z-moves are returning.

The leaker also mentions that Pokemon Sword and Shield will be releasing on November  15, later this year.

Given the association with tight-lipped Nintendo and its very nature as an unverified leak, it’s best to take this information with a grain of salt right now. It’s worth pointing out, however, that the leaker on Reddit has had a good track record of late (such as breaking information on Ghost Recon Breakpoint), while it’s also a bit easier to believe that information may have leaked so close to the Direct.

We’ll find out soon enough either way. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for all the updates from the Pokemon Direct.
