Pokemon Sword and Shield - The Crown Tundra

Game Freak announced yesterday that Pokemon Sword and Shield’s first expansion, The Isle of Armor, would be launching on June 17th. However, it also released some new information on The Crown Tundra which is out this Fall. The story, for instance, sees players leading an exploration team and exploring the new wintry area.

Pokemon Dens seen in Max Raid battles can be explored and players can also embark on a Dynamax Adventure with up to three others. Any Dynamax Pokemon encountered in these adventures can be fought in a Max Raid Battle with said Pokemon captured if you win. There’s also the Galarian Star Tournament which features 2v2 Pokemon Trainer battles with some previously seen characters.

As for new Legendaries, there’s Regieleki, an Electric-type; Regidrago, a Dragon Orb Pokemon; and Legendary Flying-type Pokemon that resemble Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno. Aside from their appearances, they also possess different abilities. For example, Galarian Articuno is a Psychic/Flying-type who can use Freezing Glare to deal psychic damage and leave a Pokemon frozen.

Pokemon Sword and Shield: The Crown Tundra is available with the $30 Expansion Pass. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months and prep for The Isle of Armor in the meantime.
