Project Century

Sega had a pretty strong showing at The Game Awards, with Like a Dragon developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio revealing the next Virtua Fighter. However, it also unveiled a “brand-new concept” called Project Century. Check out its first trailer below.

Set in 1915 Japan, it features a protagonist quickly smacked by thugs, leading to a pitched battle. Later, we see him dual-wielding sickles and taking on enemies in the rain. There’s a fair amount of brutality, like when stabbing opponents in the stomach or slicing necks. A boss fight is also showcased, with the individual blocking hits with his weapon before getting knocked down.

Overall, the combat feels more grounded and visceral – a stark contrast to how Like a Dragon has felt over the years. The vibes are immaculate, and the environments are detailed, so it should be interesting to see how this shapes up.

Project Century doesn’t have a release window or platforms, so stay tuned for updates in the coming months.
