Sony has unveiled a new peripheral – a wireless arcade-styled fight stick. Dubbed Project Defiant, the fight stick was designed by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and was designed to match the general aesthetics and vibes of the PS5 as well as its DualSense controller. Check out the announcement trailer below.

Project Defiant features a digital stick, complete with tool-less interchangeable restrictor gates, allowing players to pick between a square, a circle, or an octagon depending on their choice. The buttons on the fight stick all feature mechanical switches. Project Defiant also includes a touchpad, which has been compared to the one on the DualSense controller.

While the fight stick can pair with PS5 consoles automatically by pressing the PS button, it can also be used with a PC through the use of a PS Link USB adapter. According to Sony, the fight stick has its own dedicated storage compartment for the adapter, as well as for extra restrictor gates. For players that might not be keen on making use of the low-latency wireless connectivity option, Project Defiant can also be hooked up to a PC or PS5 through a USB-C port.

While there is no concrete launch date for Project Defiant, Sony has said that it will be hitting store shelves in 2026.
