PS4: 10 Franchises We Would Like To See Return

Syphon Filter

Though it was overshadowed by the masterful Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter was still an enjoyable stealth action game. After a trilogy of great (albeit samey) titles, the game descended into third person shooter mediocrity with a disappointing PS2 follow up and two generic PSP outings. Syphon Filter deserves one final hurrah and, provided it returns to offering stealth action gameplay rather than more generic gunplay, it would be a fantastic addition to the PS4’s game library.

Bishi Bashi

Very little of this series gets seen outside of Japan, but those who tried its PS1 incarnation all have fond memories of its party play craziness. Forget all those crappy mini-game compilations on Wii, Bishi Bashi Special was a no holds barred game about competitive mini-games thrown at you at a hundred miles an hour. Few games are as in your face as Bishi Bashi Special, and this direct approach could make a new Bishi Bashi on PS4 a real winner. Whether it be a full release or a PSN title, gamers of the next generation need to experience throwing a cake down the church aisle at a wedding.

Sly Cooper

Now if only Suckerpunch would get Infamous 2 out of the way so they can focus on more important matters

Few platform games in recent memory have been able to compete with the big names but, with its stylised and smooth gameplay, the Sly games had what it took. Though the original played out like other games in the genre, Sly 2 and 3 adopted open world elements that made the series’ mechanics even more addictive. The vibrant characters and world would look great on next generation’s hardware, so if Sucker Punch won’t get their act together and make a Sly 4 this generation, we can only hope they’ll do it in the next.

Point Blank

The Playstation brand has had some classic light gun moments. Whilst the Time Crisis series has carried on into this generation, (deteriorating with each instalment sadly) the quirky Point Blank games ended when the PS1 gave up the ghost (aside from a DS incarnation). Sure, they were all pretty much the same game, but the original Point Blank trilogy were all must have games. Their rapid fire mini-game structure made for an addictive and unique experience that gamers have been without for far too long. The PS4 needs to introduce a wireless G-con light gun, and getting it bundled with a new Point Blank game would be the icing on the cake.
