Sony is prepping the latest update for the PS4, firmware 2.50 aka “Yukimura” which will add a ton of new features for fans to play around with. This includes 60 FPS Remote Play, the ability to back up one’s hard disk to an external USB drive and much more. However, the feature that intrigues us the most is the new Suspend/Resume feature.
Similar to the Xbox One, Suspend/Resume will allow PS4 owners to power down their console into Rest Mode in the middle of a game and quickly resume their progress by pressing the PlayStation button on their controller. This will bring the console out of Rest Mode but how fast is the process exactly?
A YouTube user, who tested the feature on the beta version of update 2.50, posted a video which shows the process from when the console is awakened from its “suspended” state to resuming in-game play for Bloodborne. Overall, it took roughly 11 seconds to resume progress from Rest Mode.
