After the harsh reaction to firmware update 1.74, which only served to make some things more stable even if you didn’t notice such stabilizations actually happening, Sony has announced via its official PlayStation Twitter that firmware update 1.75 will be coming next week for the PS4.

“Coming next week: PS4 system software update 1.75 adds 3D Blu-ray film support. Woo-hoo!”

So yay, we suppose?

Sony initially revealed that it would have some new features incoming with a future update but followed this up with the abysmal 1.74 update that added pretty much nothing. After Microsoft’s monthly updates for the Xbox One, adding one new feature after another, it felt like a bummer that Sony’s PS4 UI was still several leagues behind

Hopefully update 1.75 will be the start of more significant features being added in the coming months. Maybe Gamescom will offer a bit more hope? We’ll find out in the coming week but let us know what you think in the comments below.
