PS4 Firmware Update 5.01 is Available Now

At 357.3 MB, the update "improves system performance". What a shocker!

The PlayStation 4 has received a new firmware update with version 5.01. It contains the trademark patch note of “improves system performance” and weighs about 357.3 MB. Switch on your PS4 and the update will download automatically before installing it.

It’s a given that there will be smaller updates in the coming months especially since firmware update 5.0 introduced a bevy of new features after going live recently. This includes the ability to follow anyone (depending on their privacy settings), major changes to accounts for families and allows multiple adults to customize profiles for kids, Team Tournaments for setting up competitions and much more.

The current roster of titles that support Team Tournaments includes the likes of Mantis Burn Racing, so get on that if you want to test your PvP prowess. Though it may not be the most significant update in the history of PS4, update 4.5 did bring numerous quality of life changes to the experience.
