PS4 owners who don’t have PlayStation Plus will be able to take part in some sweet multiplayer action this weekend…if you’re in Europe that is. That’s because Sony has announced a free multiplayer weekend for European PS4 owners, starting June 24th at 10 AM BST and lasting until June 27th.

This isn’t free PlayStation Plus, mind you – it’s free multiplayer. That means you won’t be able to pick up any free games courtesy of the Instant Game Collection or avail of discounts or add time to your subscription. Considering that online multiplayer on the PS4 is only possible with PlayStation Plus, this is a good opportunity to find out what you’ve been missing.

Sony has also released a new update for the PlayStation 4 with update 3.55. Though it doesn’t appear to change much, Sony noted that it “improves the quality of the system performance”. What are your thoughts on the new update and the upcoming free multiplayer weekend? Let us know below.
