UPDATE: Multiverse Mob, whose Peter Segura made the PS4 NEO mockup that you can see above, have reached out to us about an updated version created based on the feedback from the Foxconn worker, which you can find in this article. Please find the updated mockup and picture below. The mockup that you see above is still the initial one.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Just a little while ago, we reported that a Chinese Foxconn worker had leaked some sketches of what Sony’s PlayStation 4 NEO, so far mostly a complete mystery, would look like. This caused a NeoGAF user to make a mockup for the console that looked fairly convincing- and now, the Foxconn worker is confirming that convincing would be the right word for it, since it sounds like the final console is going to be a lot like it.
He listed some changes that the final console would be different from the mockup, including the position of the power button (on the first layer, not the second one), disc drive (first layer, again), USB ports (these are on the second layer), the presence of a light strip, a new DC port different than the one on PS4 and PS4 Slim, and its weight, which is a massive 4.5kg.
He also noted that its price was expected to be 3,000 Chinese Yuan, which translates to $450- more than the launch price of the original PlayStation 4. While this would be not necessarily an unfair asking price, one does wonder how Sony plans to respond to the much more powerful Xbox One Scorpio which is due next year, and also likely to be around that price.
