PS4 Sells 1 Million Units In 2018 In UK, Switch LTD Sales At 1.4 Million, Xbox One At Under 5 Million

UK is a region where Nintendo has relatively had a weaker presence, especially compared to the strong sales they generally enjoy in the US and in Japan. The Switch factor, however, is a powerful tool, and the system has been performing better in the region than Nintendo systems usually do. Just recently, Christopher Dring, editor of GamesIndustry (the website that reports on Gfk-Tracker’s reports for video game hardware and software sales in the UK ) revealed that the Switch had sold 200,000 units over the last three weeks. Apparently, that’s had a positive impact on its lifetime sales as well.

Dring also revealed on Twitter that since its launch, the Nintendo Switch has now sold a total of 1.4 million units in the UK. He provided some numbers for the other two systems as well- the PS4 has now crossed over 1 million units sold for 2018, which takes its lifetime sales in the region to “well over” 6 million. In comparison, the lifetime sales for the Xbox One in the UK are just under 5 million units sold.

It is, of course, excellent to see that all three systems are performing strongly in the entire world, including the UK. With the Holiday season coming up and 2019 promising to be a strong year for all three consoles, those numbers are only bound to get even higher.

After last weekend, PS4 sales for the 2018 sailed past 1m in the UK. Which means the console has now sold well over 6m in the market in 5 years.
