Sony and Microsoft’s current gen consoles are going to have a very busy 2020 (especially during the first half of the year), but by the time the year comes to a close, we’ll have new current gen consoles to gawk at. The PS5 and the Xbox Series X are months away now, and it goes without saying that excitement surrounding them and their potential is growing by the minute.

Recently, Daedalic Entertainment CEO Carsten Fichtelmann showed some of his own excitement. Speaking to EDGE in their February 2020 issue (issue 341), Fichtelmann talked briefly about the PS5, while also talking about the Xbox Series X and its specs.

“I think Microsoft is doing some things better than they did in the past,” he said. “And the PS5 will be huge.”

In particular, Fichtelmann seems excited about the Xbox Series X and its hardware power, and how various aspects – such as its flash memory – will help developers and level designers.

“I’ve only heard rumours about the [Xbox Series X] specs, and it’s huge – very fast Flash memory,” said Fichtelmann. “Which excites me, of course, but I don’t think that’s relevant to this project, because we’re aiming for PC as well. Especially for level designers, though, that’s a dream come true, because we don’t have to concern ourselves with streaming corridors any more. I think that’s sometimes really painful – to squeeze down these otherwise beautiful, stunning environments because we need another corridor here.”

There’s plenty yet that we don’t know about the specs of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, but a recent leak might have given us some interesting information on both, and how they stack up against each other. Read more on that through here.

Deadalic Entertainment, meanwhile, are currently working on The Lord of the Rings: Gollumwhich is due out in 2021.
