Sony’s latest firmware update is live for PS5, adding long-awaited features like support for 1440p HDMI video output and gamelists. The latter allows players to organize games into 15 different lists, with up to 100 games for each. No more scanning through your entire Collection to find that one game.
New social features are also available, like requesting a Share Screen from a party member. Players can also view profiles for new friends more easily, and join a friend’s game from party chat quickly via a notification. Activities that are in progress can be accessed from Game Hubs easily, and it’s also possible to compare stereo audio with 3D audio on the same screen.
Some features like YouTube Search through Voice Command are currently in the “preview” phase and only live in the US and UK. This allows for searching on YouTube using Voice Command, and can even be used during gameplay. For PlayStation App users, new features like launching into a Remote Play Session from the app and Request Share Screen will go live later this month. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
