Sony has released its financial data for the first quarter (April-June) of the current fiscal year, and the results, as you may have expected, have been pretty impressive. It was recently confirmed that the PS5 had sold over 10 million units worldwide, and Sony now confirms that the console’s shipments stand at 10.1 million units worldwide, while the company still expects to ship nearly 15 million total units of the console during the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31 next year. Meanwhile, the PS4 has shipped over 116.4 million units worldwide.
The PS5 shipped 2.3 million units during the previous quarter, while the PS4’s sales have understandable slowed down in pace, with 500,000 units shipped worldwide during the preceding months. Sony also confirms that PlayStation Plus subscriber numbers currently stand at 46.3 million, while total software sales for PS5 and PS4 during the previous quarter hit 63.6 million units, of which 10.5 million sales were for Sony-published games.
Recently, Sony confirmed updated sales figures for a number of PS5 first party games, including the likes of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal, and MLB The Show 21.
