Later today, we are slated to get a “deep dive” into the PS5’s architecture. While Microsoft has been open with their Xbox Series X, we still don’t know a lot about Sony’s machine. But for both systems, there’s still a question of whether or not they will make their intended launch window of this Holiday season. The coronavirus pandemic has cast a lot of doubt on whether that will be possible (the upcoming information was meant to be revealed at the now canceled GDC 2020, for instance). Well, nothing is official, and a branch of Sony’s PR has said there’s no internal delay, yet.
BAAS Amsterdam, the PR agency for Sony Interactive Entertainment Benelux, issued a statement to the Spieltimes that said that there is no planned delay as of the “time being.”
While technically the system has no release date, both it and the Xbox Series X have been slated to come out sometime during the holidays, most likely in November. The statement from BAAS is a very careful one, too, and they overall only make up a small branch of Sony’s PR. We may or may not get details during the scheduled deep dive on launch, so stay tuned.
