With a new generation of consoles, always comes new features for said systems. As usual, both Sony and Microsoft are going to have some features that we don’t know about, or will be added later. Sometimes patents can point to some features, and we’ve got a lot of those recently, quite a lot actually. Now, we have one more that could point to an interesting new addition on the PS5.

A new patent popped up in Japan for a new create option. It seems as if this create feature offers the ability to create ‘mini demos’ of games for you to share with people. It’s unclear how this would be utilized, but most likely it would be something done as a demonstration to help players who are stuck somewhere, similar to a video, and uploaded to the cloud. Unlike a video, it seems Sony aims for you to relive that moment that’s uploaded in this unique gameplay segment, perhaps teaching you more directly how to clear a problem section. Or perhaps it could be a contest of sorts, since it seems clear times and stats could be part of it. You can see the Japanese patents through here, and big thanks to bitbydeath on the NeoGAF forums for translation work.

As always with these patents, it’s worth keeping in mind that companies file and refile patents all the time, so nothing may come of this. We have yet to have an extensive breakdown of PS5 console features, so we’ll see if this pops up when that happens.
