While buzz around the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro seemingly died down during the Summer of gaming, the console was reportedly an “open secret” at Gamescom. According to Dealabs’ billbil-kun, an announcement is reportedly coming in the first half of September. However, even more interesting is that the insider saw the console’s design.
Though it couldn’t be shared for obvious reasons, they did provide a sketch of the design. It’s said to be similar to the PS5 Slim with three black stripes in the middle of its exterior plate (presumably to reuse spares from the PS5 Slim). It’s confirmed to have two USB-C ports and a power button on the front, for what that’s worth.
The PS5 Pro takes cues from the Slim design-wise, but it’s “slightly thicker,” and there aren’t any other deviations from the base console’s design. The DualSense is also unchanged, down to the white color scheme in current models.
This rumor adds even more fuel to a report by Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb about State of Play presentation next month, but it’s not confirmed if the PS5 Pro will appear. At any rate, it could be at the Tokyo Game Show from September 26th to 29th. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
