Sony has announced that the update bringing with it new features that were announced back in July—support for multiple device connections for DualSense controllers and a power saving mode for the console—is coming out on September 17. In an update to its original announcement of the features on the PlayStation Blog, the company has also confirmed the list of games that will have support for the new Power Saver mode.

To start things out, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Demon’s Souls, and Ghost of Yōtei will be getting updates that bring in support for Power Saver. The mode itself can be activated for supported titles through a new Power Saving option in the PS5’s System Settings. As Sony had stated previously, games that haven’t been updated to support the feature won’t see any differences made to how much power they consume or the visual quality or frame rate they run at.

It is also worth noting that some gameplay that requires the PS5 to run at full power, like VR gaming through the PlayStation VR2 headset, for example, will not support Power Saver mode. The official support page for the feature also notes that other gameplay features might also get limited when running in Power Saver mode. This likely comes down to individual games and how they choose to implement their Power Saver functionality.

The ability for DualSense wireless controllers and Dualsense Edge wireless controllers to be connected to multiple devices was first introduced through a beta back in July. Using this feature, players can easily switch between gaming on a PS5 and a PC, Mac or mobile devices without having to worry about un-pairing and re-pairing on each device.

“Many PS5 peripherals, including the DualSense wireless controller, are designed to support a variety of devices beyond PS5 including PC, Mac, and mobile devices,” wrote VP of product management at Sony Interactive Entertainment in the original announcement. “We believe enabling compatibility of our peripherals across multiple platforms creates a more flexible and seamless gaming experience.”

The update currently features support for up to four devices to be simultaneously connected to the controller, with players being able to switch between these devices directly from the DualSense itself. Along with other gaming, the method can also be used to switch from playing directly on a PS5 to playing a PS5 game on PC through Remote Play.

Once a device has been paired with a DualSense controller, it will be registered to one out of four slots. These slots can then be switched through various combinations of the PS button and one of the face buttons. For example, slot 1 can be accessed through the PS button and the triangle button, while slot 2 can be accessed through the PS button and the circle button, and so on.

The controller’s LEDs will serve as indicators for which pairing slot is currently being used. A single light would mean that the first of the pairing slots is being used. Four lights, on the other hand, would mean that the fourth pairing slot is being used.
