Sony has announced that the classic PlayStation, PS2, PS3 and PS4 themes available for PS5 players will be going away. However, the company will look to bring them back following a positive response from players.

“Thank you for the fantastic response to the classic PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PS4 limited-time console themes, which will be leaving tomorrow,” posted Sony. “Due to the positive response on these four themes, we’re doing some work behind the scenes to bring these special designs back in the months ahead.” There are currently no plans to make more themes in the future.

The new themes became available on December 3rd to celebrate the 30th anniversary of PlayStation. Sony wanted fans of classic PlayStation and newer players to re-experience the sights and sounds of the classic consoles.

As part of these celebrations, Sony also released an original PlayStation-themed PS5 back in November, complete with the classic grey shade. This variant was available in Pro and Digital Edition, with limited quantities. Peripherals in the theme were also available, including DualSense controllers, the PlayStation Portal, and the PlayStation VR2.
