Rainbow Six Siege Won’t See New Game Modes Anytime Soon

New maps and Operators are the focus.

Ubisoft has been supporting Rainbow Six: Siege for more than a year after its release with new maps and Operators. However, if you’re expecting new modes other than Siege or Hostage Rescue, it won’t be anytime soon.

According to creative director Xavier Marquis, who spoke to PC Gamer, new modes aren’t the focus. “It’s not something that we do not want to do.

“The map can be different, the operators can be different, but we need something static and that is Siege mode. Siege is the center of everything.”

Brand director Alexandre Remy also described Siege as being essential and that the formula would instead be expanded with new maps and Operators.

“There’s so much depth with operators and destruction. That has a lot to offer, so the focus is always going to be on refreshing the meta with operators and new maps.”

The next expansion for Rainbow Six: Siege is Velvet Shell which will arrive on February 7th. Thoughts on the content approach? Let us know in the comments.
