Rare creative director Simon Woodroffe has revealed in the wake of Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor Yooka-Laylee’s funding on Kickstarter that the studio will be revealing its next project at E3 2015. And unlike Rare’s past endeavours for Microsoft, it’s not going to be a Kinect game.

Woodroffe stated that, “E3 Will tell the world what Gregg Mayles new project is about.” He also quotes Mayles when he said, “This is more fun than anything we’ve ever done.”

Big words, especially when you consider that Mayles is one of the longest serving designers of the company, having a hand in nearly every Rare project from Banjo-Kazooie (which he created) and Conker’s Bad Fur Day to Star Fox Adventures and Viva Pinata. It appears that previous talks about 2015 being a big year for the UK studio weren’t unfounded.

But what could Rare’s next project be? We’ll have to wait for E3 2015 to find out but you can bet it will be Xbox-exclusive. Stay tuned for more details as the E3 hype continues.
