Rockstar Games has some good news and bad news for Red Dead Redemption 2 fans. The good news is that it has a firm release date. The bad news is that it won’t be Spring 2018 – instead, the open world action adventure will be out on October 26th 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One. The reason for this delay? You guessed it – a “little extra time for polish”.
The developer apologized for the delay however and said, “We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it.” It will also be sharing more information in “the coming weeks”, which is pretty neat overall.
While the delay is a bummer, more development time for a project, especially one of this caliber is never a bad thing. When you consider the potential size of the open world and the addition of an online mode, Rockstar should ideally take as much time as possible to get it right.
And hey, at least when announcing the delay, the developer actually called it a “delay”. Unlike Electronic Arts with its delay of Anthem to early 2019, where CFO Blake Jorgensen said it wasn’t a delay. What are your thoughts on Red Dead Redemption 2’s delay? Let us know in the comments.
