The Death Stranding creator also talks about VR in 2016.
Though he’s fairly busy with his own project Death Stranding, which features actors such as Mads Mikkelsen and Norman Reedus, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has his own list of games that he’s hyped for in 2017.
Speaking to Games Industry International, Kojima revealed that in terms of his most anticipated game, Rockstar’s open world Western is at the top.
“Looking ahead, for games, my pick would have to be Red Dead Redemption .”
The long-awaited sequel is currently slated to release in Fall 2017 for Xbox One and PS4 though a PC release is still up in the air. Looking back on the year that’s past, Kojima also spoke about virtual reality and it’s impact on the world.
“2016 was year one for virtual reality. Screen-viewing culture hadn’t changed for about 120 years, so I think the impact of VR will significantly change entertainment, our daily lives, education, culture, and so on. I don’t believe this to be only about games.”
Time will tell but there’s still demand for hardware like PlayStation VR. We’ll have to wait till 2017 to see what the future holds.
