GTA 5 is actually the highest selling packaged retail game of all time– so expectations from Red Dead Redemption 2, which is the first new Rockstar game in five years (not counting the remaster of L.A. Noire from last November) are naturally high. Speaking at their financial call, Take Two, the parent company of publishers Rockstar noted that they are “incredibly excited” about the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2– which, to be fair, I would be too.
Speaking of GTA 5, Take Two noted that the game is close to approaching 100 million units in sales (up from the 95 million it was at back in May this year). So, it should pretty soon have sold more units than most gaming consoles have managed.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is probably primed to be the best selling game of the year, even though some analysts don’t feel it will be, necessarily (for what it’s worth, I agree with those analysts, though I am fully prepared to accept that I will probably be wrong, when it comes down to it). Red Dead Redemption 2 launches October 26 for PS4 and Xbox One.
