Gunfire Games’ Remnant 2 has been a success for the studio, selling over one million copies in its launch week and doubling its predecessor’s peak concurrent players on Steam. Though many have plunged into its depths and found all kinds of secrets, perhaps the craziest is an entire Archetype that requires datamining to unlock.
According to community members on Reddit, specific items are required to unlock a red door in the Labyrinth. Once that’s done, you can venture into the Backrooms for a limited time to pick up the Strange Box Engram and other items. Take it back to Wallace, and you can unlock the Archon, which specializes in Weapon Mods and Mod Power generation.
On Twitter, principal designer Ben Cureton confirmed that datamining was necessary to unlock the Archon. “We knew we couldn’t stop datamining, so we leaned into it and created an entire Archetype that could be shared with the community once revealed by those with the ability to see between worlds.”
It’s crazy but is in line with Cureton’s earlier comment about how “no one has seen or obtained 100 percent” that Remnant 2 has to offer. One has to wonder what other secrets lay in wait.
Remnant 2 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Check out our review here.
To unlock the Archon in #Remnant2, one must penetrate the code itself.
