With the success that Capcom has seen from its remakes of classic Resident Evil games, fans have been asking for a similar approach to be taken for often-ignored titles Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica as well. A recent report by Mp1st indicates that a remake of Resident Evil 0 is in the works, and has been in development for a few years.

According to the report, the remake of Resident Evil 0 is being developed under the codename Chamber, likely a reference to one of the protagonists, Rebecca Chambers. Voice acting and performance capture have also been underway as far back as 2024.

Among the actors working on the Resident Evil 0 remake is Jon McLaren, who has previously worked on several major video game releases, including Far Cry 5, and as protagonist Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The actor has also noted the project on his resume, listing it as Project Chamber. While this has been by no means confirmed as of yet, McLaren is likely playing the role of Resident Evil 0’s other protagonist, Billy Coen.

While the Resident Evil 0 remake will likely feature much of the same central story as the original, the report alleges that Capcom is going to expand on its narrative a bit. One example of this narrative expansion is the train conductor, whose role is said to be much larger than it was in the original.

It is worth noting that the report still indicates that the Resident Evil 0 remake is still quite some time away from release. Another report from last month indicates that Capcom plans to release the remake after the rumoured Resident Evil – Code: Veronica remake, which reportedly is targeting Q1 2027. Resident Evil 0’s remake, on the other hand, is apparently aiming for a 2028 release window.

With Code: Veronica remake allegedly closer to release, more recent rumours have largely revolved around the title. A report from August, for instance, has indicated that Albert Wesker—the primary antagonist behind several games in the series—will have an expanded role in the story of the remake. This means that things like his combat unit will be a “main plot point”, and the character himself will have “a bigger role in the story”.

While these remakes are simply rumours for the time being, Capcom has confirmed that the next release in the franchise is Resident Evil Requiem, which is coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026. Leading up to this release in a few months, the company has been revealing quite a few details about it, including the fact that its boss fights will be closer in style to what we saw back in the original Resident Evil and its sequel.

“Of course, there will be boss battles,” explained director Koshi Nakanishi. “However, rather than defeating enemies in a flashy manner as you progress through the game, like in games that emphasize gun shooting action, the style is more like Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2, where players expand their exploration area in a closed space and overcome obstacles using their wits.”
