Both Leon and Claire can equip a sub weapon – a knife, a grenade, or a flash grenade – at any time, and while that might seem like a minor addition at first, it quickly becomes obvious that it’s much more than that. Enemies – from the regular zombies, to Lickers, to Mr. X – can often close in on you and grab you (especially if they come upon you in larger numbers). In such a situation, the character you’re playing as uses whatever secondary weapon they have equipped on their attacker to get away. It comes in really handy in tight situations.
