Resident Evil 2 Gets A New Mod That Completely Removes Mr. X From The Game

At that point, why even play the game?

Arguably one of the best things about Resident Evil 2, which reimagines the 1998 classic in a breathtaking way for a modern context, is how it handles Mr. X, making him a pervasive terrifying presence that stalks the player relentlessly. Players have taken to Mr. X so much that even Capcom is surprised by just how well he has been received.

What I am trying to say is that it wouldn’t be remiss to argue that Mr. X is the high point of a very incredible game. So naturally, there are some people who want to play the game without him. And this new mod for the PC version of the game does just that—it disables Mr. X entirely.

The mod, which you can find here, is actually smartly made since it doesn’t affect any event that requires Mr. X to trigger or proceed either. Basically, it just removes the threat of him in gameplay. That said, removing most of the horror from a horror game to me seems… odd, but hey, you do you.
