Resident Evil 2 started off this year on a good foot, as the remake was a fantastic reinvention of both the original game and the series as a whole. The game stood alone well on its own, and there was no significant post-launch content (barring the Ghost Survivors mode). Most likely the team moved on quickly to the next project, rumored to be a remake of Resident Evil 3. But now it seems they may not have been as done with Resident Evil 2 as originally thought.
In a new update to the Steam version, a random new achievement has popped up. Right now it only has a placeholder name, with the name of your region “Ru_name,” “En_name,” etc as found by the Steam community. It’s somewhat of a head scratcher. A single player game getting a random update almost 10 months after its last one could point to some type of tie in, either with the remake of RE3 or the upcoming spinoff, Project Resistance. It could also just be a glitch for a minor technical update. Only time will tell.
Resident Evil 2 is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
