2019 was a great year for gaming. It saw a pretty constant stream of video game releases, with a mixture of remakes, new IPs and the much anticipated return of at least one legendary action series (it’s Devil May Cry, if you didn’t know). And, interestingly, it seems that critics and fans were very in sync this year in their love of a certain horror title.
Resident Evil 2 came out at the beginning of last year, so it stays a lot that even now as we enter 2020 it left enough of an impression for Metacritic users to vote it as the best game of 2019. It also averaged a 91, the highest score on the list besides Disco Elysium, also a 91 average, which came in at number 11. You can see the full list here.
The game was probably my personal favorite game from last year as well, and it gives a lot of hope for the upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake in the same vein. You can also check out what the same users voted as the game of the entire decade through here.
