More dynamic moves
Hand to hand combat moves and the occasional dive have always looked pretty flashy in Resident Evil 4 and 5, but number six seems set to up the game (if you’ll forgive the pun.) The trailer shows off sliding, an enhanced cover system and, if my eyes aren’t mistaken, possibly even some dual-wielding. It should add some necessary diversity to the proceedings, and will certainly make RE6 a step up for the series.
Addressing complaints
Resident Evil 5 had a lot of good points, but it sure as hell garnered its fair share of criticism. The aiming and inventory systems were the really big issues most seemed to have with the game but, if the minds behind the series are to be believed, these issues have been taken into account. If Capcom deliver on this promise, the criticisms of RE6 should be much less severe.
A more diverse pool of influence
No art exists in a vacuum and, as videogames are art (don’t even think about arguing against this point), game development too doesn’t exist alone. All development projects are influenced by the games that have come before and, seeing as we’ve had some great horror games since RE5, we can only expect Resi 6 to be improved by this greater pool of influence. Alan Wake, Dead Space 2, Dead Island, Shadows of the Damned, Amnesia: The Dark Descent etc. All these awesome horror/zombie games have seen a release since Resident Evil 5, and they will hopefully mean that Capcom will have no choice but to offer us the best Resident Evil game yet.
