Resident Evil 7 Will Be The Hardest Game In The Series

Difficulty and fear go together.

With Resident Evil 7, Capcom will move away from the action game focus of the last few titles in the series, and deliver a game where players are legitimately afraid- and they will achieve this by making it a game where enemies are hard to kill, upping the difficulty in the process, too.

Speaking to Xbox: The Official Magazine about the game’s focus on fear, and the resultant higher difficulty, Capcom’s Hajime Horiuchi said: “The difficulty being a little higher than in previous titles is definitely intentional.

“We wanted to focus more on the aspect of fear. We worried that if the game’s too easy and these enemy encounters aren’t too big of a deal then players aren’t going to feel that tension, not going to feel that anxiety. We wanted to make sure that even if you’re pitted up in a one versus one situation, that one enemy is capable of killing you.”

Resident Evil 7 is due out later this month for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
