Resident Evil Revelations 2

Capcom has revealed that the upcoming Resident Evil Revelations 2, which stars Claire Redfield and Moira Burton (Barry Burton’s daughter), will be released in episodic format.

Each episode will retail for $6 each while the entire collection will cost $25, adding some additional content on top. If you pick up the game on disc format for $50, you’ll have even “further gameplay content” to experience according to Capcom. The main difference between this and, say, Telltale’s The Walking Dead is that each episode of Resident Evil Revelations will be released one week apart.

The purpose is to treat the game like a weekly TV show full of cliffhangers that will subsequently “spur further conversation and speculation.” No, we don’t think it’ll be the next Breaking Bad but Capcom is trying something new without outright altering the gameplay.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 will release early 2015 for PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and PC. Thoughts on how it’s shaping up? Let us know in the comments.
