Resident Evil’s world design philosophy generally doesn’t focus on size as much as it does on, well, the actual design, with a focus on exploration and puzzles, but it seems like Village will be striking a bit of a balance. While RE7 was focused on just two or three areas in total that were pretty small in scope, Resident Evil Village seems like it’s much larger in scale. So far, Capcom have talked about the village and the castle, both of which seem like locations with a lot of potential for engaging exploration. Whether or not there will be more locations in the game remains to be seen (there probably will be), but already, it’s clear that Village is going to be much larger than its predecessor.
