RUMOUR- Sony considering Vita UMD compatibility problems

Posted By | On 14th, Sep. 2011

The PlayStation Vita, as we all know, will have no UMD drive, which obviously means that those of you who have your PSP libraries optically will not be able to play those games on the Vita. However, Sony has also said that about 500-600 PSP games can be played on the Vita, since they can be digitally downloaded via PS Store.

According to a new report on Destructoid, though, Sony is also “considering some kind of program to offer special download versions” of older UMDs as replacements, though no official announcements have been made yet (obviously).

Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you updated on this. In the meanwhile, you can check other latest news on the Vita here. Sony announced at TGS that the Vita will be releasing in Japan on December 17 with over 20 launch titles. The launch lineup is pretty impressive, including games like Uncharted, Ninja Gaiden, Sound Shapes, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Little Deviants and more.
