Saints Row’s Next Entry Will Be Showcased In 2020

Koch Media says next year is when we'll see the franchise.

Saints-Row-The-Third

As Grand Theft Auto took a more serious path with Grand Theft Auto IV, a reaction of sorts came in the form of Saints Row. The open world game took the zaniest aspects of the older GTA titles and turned them up to 11 with each entry getting crazier. The series has been dormant since 2015, however. But it’s ramping up to make its fabulous return in some form next year.

Koch Media (the parent company of the franchise publisher Deep Silver) CEO Klemens Kundratitz told GamesIndustry that more Saints Row is coming. They unfortunately offer no details, but it seems at the very least they’re rubbing their hands to unveil it, and that it will be closer to the traditional Saints Row and less so like the recent spin-off Agents of Mayhem.

Saints Row is Saints Row. The two games are similar, for sure, but they’re also completely different. With Volition, we have the creators of all the Saints Row games as an internal studio and they’re not going to be distracted by anything else from creating our next game under this important franchise.

Saints Row is very close to our hearts, and we’ll talk about it next year. For the time being, we just wanted to get the word out that it’s coming and it’s going to be great.”

Earlier in the year we got word that a new Saints Row was in development from the series Creators and developers of most of the previous titles, Volition. What kind of form this will come in or what hardware it’ll target is up in the air. Either way, we’re probably in for something pretty wild.
